Logline
The heroine becomes more and more entangled in her lies in this poetic thriller about female identity in a rigid class society.
Shortly before the First World War, poverty reigns on the streets of Paris. To escape this miserable existence, Nélie enlists in the Red Cross and becomes a nurse at the front. Rose, a young woman from a good family, is taken into her care. During a bombing raid, Rose dies before her eyes. Without further ado, Nélie pretends to be Rose and becomes a reader to the wealthy Madame de Lengwil in her stead. The hoax works surprisingly well at first.
