Daniel Rakete Siegel, Denis Moschitto

Daniel Rakete Siegel, born in 1980, began studying Japanese, philosophy, and German literature at the University of Cologne in 2002 and was a freelance graphic designer on the side. From 2004 to 2007, he studied film directing at the International Film School Cologne. His graduation film, EIN FALL FÜR KBBG — a parody of the young-adult book series “Ein Fall für TKKG” — had its world premiere at the Vienna Independent Shorts festival. Since 2007, Siegel’s work has included being a director and writer for the German government, for which he produced a spot called “Kinderleicht: Die europäischen Werte”. As a performer, he had the lead role in a commercial titled “Fakir”, which received the First Steps Award in 2008. He and Christopher Becker wrote and directed the Web series HIGHROLLER UND TANK from 2008 to 2010. In 2015, the six-part television series IM KNAST, which he developed, aired on ZDFneo. It starred Denis Moschitto and Manuel Rubey, and featured Anke Engelke and Max Giermann as guest stars.

Denis Moschitto was born in Cologne in 1977. After several roles in various television productions and his first cinema role in Rolf Schübel’s GLOOMY SUNDAY – EIN LIED VON LIEBE UND TOD (1999), Moschitto became known to a wide audience in Marco Petry’s SCHULE (2000) and Benjamin Quabeck’s NICHTS BEREUEN, in which he appeared alongside Jessica Schwarz. In the years that followed, he appeared in various motion pictures, including Benjamin Quabeck’s VERSCHWENDE DEINE JUGEND (2003), Anno Saul’s KEBAB CONNECTION (2004), and Özgür Yildirim’s CHIKO (2008), which earned him a nomination for the German Film Award as best leading actor. Tarek Ehlail’s GEGENGERADE, Yasemin Samdereli’s ALMANYA – WILLKOMMEN IN DEUTSCHLAND (2011), and Detlev Buck’s RUBBELDIEKATZ (2011) followed. In 2017, he starred alongside Diane Krüger in Fatih Akin’s AUS DEM NICHTS as well as in Josef Hader’s WILDE MAUS and Tobias Wiemann’s AMELIE RENNT. Most recently, Moschitto has appeared on screen in Tim Tracht’s DEM HORIZONT SO NAH (2019) and Martin Hawies and Laura Harwarth’s DIE ZUKUNFT IST EIN EINSAMER ORT (2021). Throughout his career, Moschitto has starred in several episodes of the long-running TV series TATORT. In 2003, he received the Günter Strack Television Award for best young actor for the episode ROMEO UND JULIA. In early 2022, his debut as a director, in collaboration with Daniel Siegel, came with the film SCHOCK; the screenplay was also written by both of them.
