In this unconventional love story, a shy masseur and a brazen cook at a spa hotel discover their attraction to each other.
"A luxury hotel, where steaks sizzle and fat is massaged away. Clemens (tender) is the newcomer in the spa area. Lara (tough) aims to lead the pack of wolves in the kitchen. An elevator ride brings the two together. They need each other, but clash until things come to a head." -- HFF "Konrad Wolf"
Two actors in the documentary-like setting of a spa hotel. Blood, sweat, tears, bodily fluids, and lots of love from the underbelly of the service economy. He masseur, she cook, he sensitive, she tough, he Ayurveda, she alcohol. They need a strong incentive to wake up. The viewers, however, are wide awake.
In advance to the screening, five scenes will be shown that were developed in an improvisation workshop by young people and students of the HFF München under the direction of director Jakob Lass.
This screening is for free.

Meet the director
Jakob Lass
Jakob Lass was born to American and Czech parents in Bavaria in 1981. He made his first two feature films, FRONTALWATTE (2011) and LOVE STEAKS (2013), while studying film directing at the Film University Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam. Both films follow Lass's pattern of working with a minimalized screenplay and relying on the actors' ability to improvise. Produced without any grants or broadcast agreements, LOVE STEAKS premiered at FILMFEST MÜNCHEN in 2013 and received the German Cinema New Talent Award in four categories at once. The film then received the Max-Ophüls-Preis and was nominated for the Deutscher Filmpreis for best picture. Lass and his brother Tom operate Lass Bros Filmproduktion.
