FILMMAKERS LIVE! NEW VISIONS FROM AFRICA

There is vivid imagery and political fervor in the new visions from Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Morocco, and Tunisia. This year, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is presenting a wide variety of narratives, aesthetics, and voices from the African continent. Here, the filmmakers of OMEN and MAMI WATA will discuss their works, their hopes for African cinema, and the challenges they face in their countries on a daily basis. In screening these very different works, the Filmfest is reflecting a breadth of African filmmaking that is being defined by young voices in exile as well as by established and emergent directors from underrepresented countries who are at last being discovered and sought out by the major festivals.
