POWER AND POWERLESSNESS: FAIR CONDITIONS IN FILM PRODUCTION

Logline

Hosted by the SPD Faction in the Bavarian State Parliament

Cutbacks in production budgets, fewer shooting days, and a lack of collective bargaining agreements: more and more, the dream factory is a source of nightmares. Excessive work hours, rigid hierarchies, and permanent insecurity are a burden on filmmakers; passion for the job is often mistaken for an unconditional willingness to make sacrifices. We discuss with our guests how these patterns can be reversed and why working conditions and the culture surrounding this work need to change.

Moderators: Volkmar Halbleib, member of the State Parliament, and Renate Kurzdörfer, Kulturforum München
Panelists: Leslie Malton (director of the German Federal Acting Federation BFFS), Sabine Lamby (naked eye filmproduction), Volker Tittel (cinematographer BVK), Oliver Zenglein (managing director of Crew United)
