QUEER CINEMA: IT MUST BE AFFORDABLE

Logline

Hosted by Queer Film Festival München & Queer Media Society

Although queer cinema has gained a lot of prominence in recent years, queer filmmakers are particularly affected by a lack of job security. Income inequality and tenuous working conditions cause important voices and stories in the film scene to be lost. This panel will discuss ways of promoting diversity and inclusivity in cinema. We will learn what strategies and measures are needed to support queer artists and to make the industry more accessible and equitable to all, including on the part of institutions such as festivals and distributors.

Panelists: Sylva Häutle (she/they) (founder and former festival director QFFM | Queer Film Festival München), Fatih Abay (he/him) (diversity & inclusion officer, European Film Academy), Merle Grimme (she/her) (writer, director), Sophie Ahrens (she/her) (producer, Schuldenberg Film), Jakob Kijas (he/him) (managing director, Salzgeber & eksystent)
