A cool drama about a young woman straddling the line between a never-ending party and a sense of responsibility.
Marie is a young mother who is unable to identify with her role. She and her five-year-old son Lenny live in a camper while a temporary job at a gas station keeps them afloat. She meets Erich, a showman’s assistant, and his co-worker Haro. Together they enter the gaudy world of the fairground, but the friendship among the three of them soon goes sour. When Haro puts her son in danger, Marie’s motherly instincts begin to stir for the first time.

Meet the director
Abini Gold was born and raised in Berlin. After earning a degree in journalism in Hannover, she enrolled at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2014 to study film directing. Her first short feature film, JOY, made during the second year of her studies, earned a Golden Rider at Filmfest Dresden. Further such projects ensued, as did a long-term documentary about the fate of a girl in India caught up in a women’s rights gang. Gold’s experience gathered in making feature films and documentaries has inspired her subsequent filmmaking. THE NIGHT BETWEEN US is her graduation film at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in cooperation with Das kleine Fernsehspiel. She is currently developing the screenplay for her next feature film.
