A world premiere: It is a powerful contribution to the culture of remembrance, featuring many famous German actors.
In 1965, playwright Peter Weiss adapted the first Auschwitz trial in Frankfurt for the stage using the techniques of documentary theater. Composed as an oratio in 11 cantos, the play conveys the horror of Auschwitz as it confronts both perpetrators and victims. With a cast of 60, this film goes to great lengths to bring the script to life.
